New Jersey – Taylor ham. Taylor ham in North
Jersey. Pork Roll in South Jersey.
New Mexico – Pork tamales.
North Dakota – Knoephia soup. Made with chicken,
potatoes and dumplings.
Ohio – Cincinnati chili.
Oklahoma – A whole meal: Chicken-fried steak, sausage with biscuits
and gravy, corn bread, corn, fried okra, back-eyes peas, barbecued pork,
squash, grits, strawberries and a piece of pecan pie.
Oregon – Tofurky.
Pennsylvania – Philly cheesesteak. Never say “Philly” or “cheesesteak” when ordering. Ask for “Whis
wit” (Cheese Whiz with fried onions) or “Prov witout” (provolone, no onions).
South Dakota – Chislic.Bite-size pieces of
beef, lamb , venison or mutton grilled or deep-fried served on stick.
Utah – Fry sauce.
Washington – Grilled wild salmon.
